Pretty Pink Creative cottage challenge

Here is my DT card for this weeks Creative cottage challenge blog. This week the challenge title is "Prettty pink" pop over and join in here.
I have used the "Something sweet" kit which is available here. I adore this kit and it's great for kids and adult girlies alike - well we all love cupcakes don't we ?!
This is a really simple card to make, just make your card base smaller so the overall card will still fit into a standard envelope.
The papers and the cake image are all included in the kit so all I had to do was print, and crop to size' layering 2 patterns on top of a plain green then onto the pink card base.
I used my ever trusty spellbinders dies to cut the image and just blinged it up a bit with some stickles, glossy accents and ribbon.
Voila simples !
Hope you like it

Happy anniverssary Mum & Dad !

Hello to you all and thanks for stopping by - haven't been doing too much card making in the last couple of weeks - seem to be busy doing all sorts of other bits and pieces, I guess its just that time of the year when we all start spring cleaning and trying to tidy up the house and garden.
This is a card that I made for my lovely mum and dad. Yesterday they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary !
This card really was a last minute quickie but Mum seemed happy with it so I'm happy too !
For the card base I used a textured card from DCWV and the paper is an old one also from a DCWV stack (I think !).
I used my trusty nestabillities for the scalloped ovals layering the same textured card and also some handmade paper in a zingy green.
The silky flower is from the fabulous prima and the glassy looking flower I got from QVC (on the bargain page) they are beautiful and have a pincer type grip on the back so they are really easy to use on all sorts of things - actually my neice had one in her hair this afternoon !
I haven't got a swirl die yet (on my wish list !) so I made my own using my quickie glue pen and doodlebug sugar coating glitter, accented with some stickles dots.
I added a couple of heart pins to give more of a romantic feel to the card and added the love always sentiment with black stazon.
Hope you like it - leave me a comment - I love to see what you all think

Creative cottage challenge *Sparkle*

This is my 1st challenge entry as one of the design team over at The creative cottage challenge blog. This week the challenge is "Sparkle".
All the papers and the gorgeous image are from the "Come rain or shine" kit from creative cottage which are available here.
I added blue and yellow stickles for the sparkle needed and glossy accents to add some dimension. I esp like the gloss on sherbets wellies. I added 2 layers on the toes and I love the effect.
Hope you like it - and once again I'm sorry for the terrible photo.
Thanks for looking - leave a comment,
Suzie xx

Card patterns sketch # 54 & Color Throwdown # 83

Morning just a quick post this morning - must get some cleaning done (boring !).
I loved the sketch and the color throwdown for this one and this card came together really quickly.

The patterned papers are scraps and I think they are from good ole DCWV - don't quote me, I can't be sure !.
I matted them onto textured card from DCWV. I couldn't find the right pink for the final layer so I inked up a piece of plain white cardstock with the ink pad I used for my stamps - voila perfect colour match !.
I used my fiskars border punch at the bottom of that layer for a girly finish.
The stamps are a birthday set from Kelly Panacci and the inkpad is versacolor opera pink.
I added stickles to the crown and the sentiment for a little bling and wrapped it all up with some deep pink grosgrain ribbon from Dovecraft.
Just a quick stamp onto more patterned paper and a bit of ribbon inside and that was it - job done !
Hope you like it

Mojo Monday sketch # 129 & Creative Cottage 1st challenge

Firstly I would like to congratulate the creative cottage on their very 1st challenge which is to incorporate "new" into a card design. This could have been new products, new job, new home the possibillities are endless - I went for new baby !
I wasn't so sure of the mojo sketch to begin with and it took alot of shuffling the card elements about and adding more layers but I am thrilled with the result - just goes to show what you can achieve when you leave your comfort zone and push yourself that little bit harder.

I knew I wanted to use some of my "new" papers from Papermania's Honey and hugs range they are just so cute - perfect for spring and baby cards. This image is just 1 of 4 from a 6 x 6 page so this set could really stretch with some thrifty cropping !
So all 3 patterned papers are from this set and the pearlescent paper is from my craft stash.
I embossed the lower pink panel with a paisley cuttlebug folder and my bigshot, I also used my bigshot to diecut a swirl (Sizzix decorative swirl #3) which I positioned under some flowers secured with a gorgeous brad (not sure what range this came from - sorry).
Under the flowers I have added a double bow (make a bow with a longer length of ribbon then loop the ends to make another bow - almost rosette style) I made the bow with a very light pink sheer organza so it would be delicate and not detract from that super cute lamb.
I added a sentiment from a K & Co kit I've had ages and ages and finally dotted some fruit punch stickles on the lambs cheeks - had to stop myself from adding more glitter to his coat - enough is enough !
Inside it says "It's a girl" - I have a friend who is pregnant so I am now hoping she has a girl !!

Well that's it - thanks for looking and for all your comments - still on the look out for some good beginners copic tutorials if anyone knows of any.
Thanks.

Color Throwdown & 2 Sketches 4 You Challenges

This is my entry into the color throwdown # 82 and also the sketch challenge at 2 sketches 4 you.
I was over the moon when I saw the colours for this one as I had just got my Cosmo Cricket Early bird mini stack and couldn't wait to use it.
There is not a paper I do not like in this set they are all gorgeous.
And when I saw the gorg sketch from Kazan at 2 sketches I thought how nicely they would all combine.
I took inspiration from the very talented Jen del Muro at i (heart) 2 stamp and specifically this tutorial for those lovely glittery shiny chipboards so thanks Jen but mine aren't not quite as neat and smooth as yours but I'll def use this technique again I love the look.

I diecut a circle using my nestabillities and my bigshot and mounted it onto a punched scalloped circle, onto that I mounted (using foam pads - 2 layers in the middle and 1 layer at the outer edges) a gorgeous digi stamp from the Jane's bakery set at Squigglefly and coloured with my copics. This was my 1st attempt at using the copics and I obviously need a little more practice - I will be looking online for some tutorials - I don't think it helps that I only have a basic set of 12 colours and they are all quite dark, I think I need some lighter ones so I can build up the colour. If you have any tips please leave me a comment or send me an email - thanks.
The sentiment was printed and layered onto dp (this stamp is also in the Jane's bakery set).

Inside is another digi from the Jane's bakery set, which I paper pieced, and some DMC thread, a sentiment stamp from my stash not sure what range this came from (oops) and a corner flourish stamp from papermania.
Hope you like it, remember to let me know if you have any tips for colouring with copics.
As always sorry for the terrible photography x
Thanks for looking

Card Patterns Sketch # 53 - Happy 1st Birthday

First I would like to wish Card Patterns a very happy 1st birthday. I have only recently found you but I am loving the sketch challenges - thanks for helping to revive my mojo !

As for this little beauty it just sort of flowed and was made in no time at all. Not sure it is one of my favorite cards but I think it is quite cute all the same.
Wish I had a birdie stamp - think I might have to go shopping for one before spring is out !

The backing papers are digi papers from Cupcake Cuties you can find these and loads of other goodies at My Grafico, the stamp is a digi from Pink Petticoat and so is the sentiment. I coloured these with my spica glitter pens and added some Doodlebug sugar coating to the sheep for some texture. Everything else is from my (bulging !) craft cupboard - simple !
Enjoy,
Suzie x

Last I (heart) 2 stamp sketch challenge of the month !

Here is my entry for the last sketch of the month over at I (heart) 2 stamp.

Loved using these colours - feeling really spring like at mo - isn't it amazing what a little sunshine can do !
I made the card base using this gorgeous shade of zingy yellow from dcwv then added the patterned papers - springtime text paper from dcwv (I think - it's an old one) and the pretty floral is from Bo Bunny - Sun Wash Calico.
The image is a digi stamp from Pink Petticoat coloured with my copics and spica glitter pens.
I found the beautiful quote at the fantastic Quote Garden and printed it on to matching card.
The rest is from my craft stash except for the ribbon which is one of the hanging loops from inside one of my tops - it just seemed to be the perfect colour !

SOOOOO sorry for the awful photos. I really must find an online tutorial about taking photos for the blog but would rather spend my spare time cardmaking !.
Thanks for looking. Please leave a comment x
